Reading the transcript and annotating it brought me a whole new level of understanding. When reading and annotating, you are more forced to pay attention, which made me learn so much more. I thought I paid so much attention to the video, but missed some important stuff!
I never knew how much I used metaphors until reading this and really thinking about the things I say on a daily basis. I am amazed. Also when I was reading this I got more of an understanding about synesthesia. I never knew people had “colored hearing,” I want to learn so much more about it. I also want to learn is I have any synesthesia abilities!
One part of the “conversation” with Geary that stood out to me was the part about people rejected literally false sentences, but took longer to reject metaphors. I have to admit, I would do the same thing. I just think it’s so weird how our minds will accept metaphors, even though they are false sentences, but if we saw a false sentence we would know something was wrong. I really loved his TED Talk about metaphors and it has brought me so much more knowledge, not just on metaphors but other cool topics as well!
